Access to valuable information for
people living with disabilities

Welcome to The Information Center for Individuals with Disabilities.

The Information Center's mission is to provide a comprehensive source of information relevant to the needs of people with disabilities and their families. Founded in 1977 by Nancy C. Schock, the Center has become a nationally recognized repository of valuable information about disabilities and resources.

One of the major contributions of The Information Center has been the creation of a taxonomy-or index-for archiving and easily accessing pertinent information according to common-sense categories.

We welcome your suggestions and comments on the relevance, timeliness and ease of use of our site. We also welcome support in the form of financial contributions, volunteer time and expertise. With the help of our supporters, we hope to reintroduce telephone support to answer callers' questions and direct them to resources-a service of the center that is currently unavailable due to cuts in funding. We are also working to continually expand and update our web site to meet your needs. To offer your support or suggestions, click here.
